We are a church that is stunned that God would save sinners by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Now, that word, 'sinners’, might throw you off but we believe there is no good news without it. In fact, in a place where status, beauty, and power are prized and the chasm between who we show ourselves to be and who we actually are is vast, the ’s’ word turns out to be the doorway to true freedom and true love. Pretension goes out the window when you own that you are both more sinful than you imagined and more loved by Jesus than you ever dreamed. What truth and message could be more captivating than that?
If we’ve been loved by Jesus so greatly, how can we not love what he loves - his church? Our hope is to be a community of people growing in their awareness of Jesus’ love for them as well as bringing that love to bear in our relationships in our homes and church. We gather to worship God with singing, praying, confessing, and preaching on Sundays. We scatter throughout the week to open our Bibles together, pray for one another, share meals, walk through difficult circumstances together, and encourage one another. Love and growth are relational, community sports and we, you, all have a part to play.
Jesus also loves our cities and so do we. As we grow in our awareness of his love for us, we try to bring it to bear in how we work as CPAs, teachers, baristas, entrepreneurs, nurses, engineers, and students.
We strive to communicate and display the Gospel in compelling ways as a community and through Gospel, arts, and culture events like Love, Suffering, & Creativity and Shaped by What You Love.
We work to bring mercy and justice to a broken world through partnerships with Working Wardrobes and Families Forward.
We also believe that its not the church that has a mission but that God’s mission has a church. The best way to advance the Gospel is by planting Gospel-centered churches so we set aside 10% of our income to support 23 other church plants through Acts 29 and Sojourn Network.
So Jesus loves you and that’s a bit about us. What about you?
While you may learn some good things like historical background on the text, how to be a better person, or how to date or marry well, none of those are the primary purpose of preaching. Without Jesus, none of those things matter. Since Jesus is what we all need, and since the Bible is all about Him, we preach Jesus from the Bible every Sunday.
Our focus is on helping parents raise kids who love Jesus. We don’t just want to babysit children or do the work of discipling kids for their parents, we want to help train you, the parents or future parents, to raise kids who know and love Jesus.
Our Sunday gatherings are also shaped by the rich heritage of faith that has been handed down through the centuries, so we seek to use a modern liturgy. We sing hymns that are centuries old done in ways that are understandable to us in this time. We read creeds, catechisms, and responsive readings together because we believe God loves hearing his kids proclaim truth about him together.
God did not make us to be alone. Though there are 3.2 million people in Orange County, it is entirely possible to be surrounded by people but remain unknown. Though we may have family, dating relationships, coworkers, or neighbors in our lives, it is possible to have a life that is completely fragmented. We invite you to live life as God intended it, not just authentic but vulnerable, not compartmentalized but whole.
